85 PICCADILLY, LONDON – 2015
FOR MACAI PROJECTS AND FRASER RANDALL
The project involves the refurbishment of three stories of a 1960’s RC framed building to create a new fine dining restaurant.
Existing slabs are to be demolished to rationalise levels and reduce structural depths, gaining head height where possible. A new feature staircase and lift shaft are to be introduced and the existing vaults lowered to create a level basement slab.
Working over the Jubilee and Piccadilly lines and within water bearing gravels the basement works require careful sequencing and consideration, with permissions required from several authorities including the landlord, TFL and Westminster Highways. Temporary works involved in demolishing the slabs and replacing the facade are also a challenge ensuring the residential units on the five storeys over are not affected.
Team who currently working with RFE Surveys provided full engineering support for Main contractor and subcontractors on site working alongside Permanent works structural engineer, Architect, Temporary works engineers and client team.
