Cadogan Hotel Project – 2015 – 2018

The building, known for its historical significance – boasting Lillie Langtry and Oscar Wilde as its former guests, undergoing major construction works. Whilst its 19th Century façade will remain, works will include underpinning to form a new sub-basement, reconfiguration from 64 rooms to 54 and a redesign of the roof area which will see Belmond Cadogan transformed into a superior 5-star hotel that BECK are renowned for delivering.

RFE Surveys established primary control points, providing complete site engineering, surveying and setting out support for Main contractor and subcontractors on site.  Closely working alongside Macai Projects who contracted to complete builders works, enabling works and temporary works to install permanent steel structure client structural engineer (MAE).

Crack monitoring at Cadogan hotel project, cracks monitored on daily basis during sensitive restoration and installation of critical structural elements.


Kennington Road Ashford, Care Home – 2018 – 2019

RFE Surveys chosen to provide engineering support with civil, ground work and landscaping setting out and site surveying for new Care home in Ashford.

The three-storey home, which is expected to welcome its first residents in summer 2019, will include facilities such as a cinema, café and hairdressing salon. Secure and wheelchair-friendly landscaped outdoor space will include sensory gardens, water features and seating to give residents the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors.

Skate Park Folkestone, NEW PROJECT – 2017 – 2018

One of the latest projects we providing our site surveying and setting out services alongside Darby groundworks to this unique Structure , mixture of steel and reinforced structure unusual shape and tight tolerances can challenge the most experience engineering team.

The multi-storey sports park is seen as an investment for young people and will be located in the town centre, at the junction of Dover Road and Tontine Street. There is already much talk about this groundbreaking initiative which is understood to be the first of its kind in the world.

The park will provide locals and visitors with the opportunity to engage in a unique range of sports, including skateboarding, BMX, boxing, climbing and bouldering. Expert input has been provided by Maverick Industries, who are specialists in skate park design. Each floor will offer a different experience and have distinctive features suited to different skills and abilities.


RFE Surveys Ltd have been selected to be part of the delivery team of this iconic structure on the waterfront of Woolston, Southampton. Significant emphasis has been placed on the visual appearance of this structure and considerable development has taken place with Southern Water’s partners on this project. RFE survey providing setting out and as build surveys on behalf of  Southfield Structural Services Ltd. Range of surveying equipment selected for the job to achieve high quality and precision required by clients team. 

Orford Studios Project 2016

For Macai projects and Haig construction

The residential project located near to Sloane Square, is made up of a four-storey town house and 4 duplex apartments, designed by Haptic Architects who have recently been awarded the BD Interior Architect of the Year for 2016.

The formation of the basement across the whole site has been challenging, with over 8 adjoining properties, requiring a mix of underpinning and contiguous piles to be used, together with extensive propping to complete the basement excavation.

85 Piccadilly, London – 2015

For Macai projects and Fraser Randall

The project involves the refurbishment of three stories of a 1960’s RC framed building to create a new fine dining restaurant.

Existing slabs are to be demolished to rationalise levels and reduce structural depths, gaining head height where possible. A new feature staircase and lift shaft are to be introduced and the existing vaults lowered to create a level basement slab.

Working over the Jubilee and Piccadilly lines and within water bearing gravels the basement works require careful sequencing and consideration, with permissions required from several authorities including the landlord, TFL and Westminster Highways. Temporary works involved in demolishing the slabs and replacing the facade are also a challenge ensuring the residential units on the five storeys over are not affected.

For Macai projects and Formation

This high-end residential development provides 22 new dwellings that range from one to three bedrooms, each with a private terrace, along with underground car parking and a large communal garden, screened by mature trees.

The site backs onto a conservation area and the design of the elevations and choice of materials reflect this. The facade steps back to pick up on the clear eaves line of the surrounding buildings and to prevent overshadowing. The development utilises

Finchley Catholic High School – Completion September 2014

PJMA has recently been appointed by contractor AJ Dunne & Sons Ltd to complete the design and assist with the construction of a new sixth form centre for Finchley Catholic High School in North London. The project involves the development of a design from RIBA workstage C including the resolution of a number of complex planning conditions. The development will form an interlocking part of the existing school campus while at the same time providing a measure of independence for the 300 sixth form students that will use it, including a separate entrance into the grounds.

The new building is a two-storey structure with a generous, open plan common room and study area at ground floor and five general teaching classrooms at first. A key aspect of the design is that the building is dug into the sloping site to the level of an adjacent technology block. The relationship between the two buildings defines a new courtyard that is addressed by the common room and will provide valuable external space for the School.

The building is to achieve an ‘excellent’ BREEAM rating. Completion is expected in April 2014


The existing building on the site was demolished and up to 2 metres of excavation work carried out. A steel frame was constructed and a hybrid curtain walling system consisting of aluminium and timber were installed, along with an aluminium standing seam roof.

Sustainable features included a passive ventilation system, which uses intelligent sensors to regulate airflow, a Brise Soleil system, for solar shading and temperature control, solar panels and a rainwater harvesting system.

For the interior, Dunne constructed high specification decorative ceilings and installed LED lighting, power points, security alarms, data and Wi-Fi access throughout.

Sustainable paving, top soil, grass and the planting of new trees formed the landscaping finish.

Temple Lodge, Hammersmith, London Completed 2013

Bed & Breakfast Club and Gate Restaurant

Initial site surveys and setting out ,establishing control points .Site engineering support right to the opening ceremony.

This highly challenging £1.4m project for the part demolition and extension to a place of worship and community hub, entailed works to their Chapel, Bed & Breakfast Club and Gate Restaurant. Works commenced with the demolition of the chapel and retail unit, followed by the construction of a new chapel facility. The Bed and Breakfast Club, residential accommodation for visitors, underwent refurbishment and extension works creating a new en -suite penthouse bedroom. The Gate Restaurant had its superstructure and flooring upgraded, and underwent construction works to create a new ground floor lobby area as well as a 2 storey extension to house storage and a wash up facilities. An adjoining building was reconfigured to provide office and vestry space, as well as disabled WC facilities and further residential accommodation. Finally, various external works were carried out to both the existing courtyard and frontage to the new chapel Extensive M&E reconfiguration, adaptation and installation works were carried out to all areas, including new lighting systems to suit the different room uses, CCTV, new gas, water and electrical supplies, new ventilation systems, amongst many other M&E items. With many bespoke items of joinery, windows, ironmongery, and more, a unique and inspirational environment has been provided; a remarkable project that RFE Surveys are proud to be involved
